Over 100 years of combined experience in cable locators and utility detection techniques. Sygma Solutions Ltd are industry experts and passionate about passing our knowledge and skills on to our delegates.
The Sygma “Genny & CAT Course” has a proven track record in vastly reducing service strikes and increasing Genny usage.
Changing behaviours through proper understanding of the “science” behind what we do then proving it on site in a practical format.
We do not just teach our delegates how to operate the kit, we give them the skills and confidence to apply it to a real site and conduct a proper utility location survey.

Our Online awareness sessions are delivered online to give the participants an overview of the “science” behind utility location and avoidance without the need to travel to a specific location. You can have delegates in different locations all attending the same session. This is particularly suitable to people who may not use the equipment but would like to get an overview of why locators are used on-site.
This is a CAT & Genny awareness session and is delivered as a stand alone course but would not be enough on it’s own to certify a delegates competency in using the equipment. If this is required then you can book a full course delivered in a location anywhere in the UK or alternatively you can split the course
It is important to note that this half day session will be a live and interactive session using excellent software that allows questions from delegates. The system can be accessed by any web browser.
The software allows us to see who has attended and that they have participated in the full online event.
Unfortunately, with this type of equipment a practical training element is essential.
If a practical session is required after attending the awareness session this can be delivered on a live project if necessary, which in itself has a massive benefit. If there is no live site or it isn’t suitable then the trainer will find a suitable location local to the delivery location. As the classroom part will be completed online we can then deliver a full day practical if required and these can be split in to 2 sessions to allow lower numbers on each session.
The practical session will include a fully documented assessment using our online platform O.S.C.A. (On Site Competency Assessment) and a report will be sent to the company which shows;
- The assessment location from GPS
- Multiple photos of the delegates being assessed
- Each section of the training process and feedback from the assessor
To ensure competence and understanding of the online knowledge a theory assessment will be completed and then certification issued if both parts of the course have been attended and competency has been shown in both theory and practical.
The Process
1. Online registration form completed & ID submitted
2. Online awareness training session attended
3. Practical site visit & assessment completed
4. Knowledge-based assessment completed
5. Online feedback post training
The above format will also allow us to issue:
• In house certification
• EUSR Certification
• ProQual Level 2 certification
We will be offering a flexible approach in terms of times for the online session and the practical element tailored to suit your needs.
With this format we will be able to:
• Deliver the same quality product
• Issue certification
